Get a copy of CD
"Papurihan Natin Si Hesus"
Laloe Albert Garcia, who hails from Kamuning, Quezon City, is a sportsman and a musician.
In his youthful years as a grader, he started out as a swimmer under the watchful eyes of Dad Luna, father of Asian gamer, Grace. As an elementary graduation gift, his father gave him a racer bike and this triggered his passion for cycling.
It was during his elementary grade-sixth school days that the musical world enticed him largely through the influence of his brother, Rudy, a member of the original Pinoy Beatles, Dyna Sonics.
As a high schooler, he split time for music and cycling as he consistently joined races most of which were held in Quezon City. He competed in the Prisaa, Palarong Pambansa, and the 1969 National Open where he won a gold in Track.
He likewise joined the nine-day 1st Asian Tour of the Philippines - his first and only Tour. It was in one of these races that he was spotted by a coach of the Quezon City Cycling Chapter who offered him an athletic scholarship which he subsequently accepted.
Using the scholarship to the hilt, Garcia finished college and then worked for a multi-national drug firm in Makati for 26 years.
Even while working for the drug firm, Garcia still found time for cycling and music. In 1977, he set his sights on making the national team for the Kuala Lumpur Southeast Asian Games but his employer did not grant him permission to train and so, with a heavy heart, he decided to quit and concentrate on work.
Once in a while, though, he would give back something to the sport dear to him. He was a 1979
Cycling Local Commissaire. He also became Race Director General
of California Raisins’ Run/Race Projects from 1985 up to 1987. Towards the end of 1987, he promised then PACA president, Gov. Francisco Almeda that upon reaching the age of 50, he will take him up on a previous offer to help the association.
Despite the demise of Almeda, Garcia fulfilled his promise and in 2004 he was Philcycling Vice President for National Capital Region and additional appointment as Deputy Secretary General.
OIC Track Chairman.
Garcia also attended PETA theater workshops and ran as a councilor for 4th District of Quezon City but wasn’t fortunate to win in the 2004 election. 2005 SEAGames DZSR 918 Sports Radio Field Reporter. He has also acted parts in “Malakas and Maganda,” SUGO, Ganti ng Now & Forever, and many more telenovelas.
“Ilaw at Pag-asa, Tayo ay Magkaisa,” is a song composed by Garcia during the 1985 People Power. He brought his composition to Radio Veritas to share it with the people in EDSA.
